Hi Phil what forms of paid advertising are you currently using?

I've a couple of threads bookmarked from various members that make good reading;

Hi Phil
Must say i like your new website
I had a flyer professionally designed for me this year and it has been very successful and got a distribution company to put them out for me.
I found I have been slacker than I would like for around the last month, but work is really starting to pick up again. I guess so many are away on holidays.
As you know I use Jobberand am a really big fan of the product, it's worth checking out the blog as you may find some useful helps and tips on how others do it... I use it to gather market research directly from my clients when they are paying for services and send them coupons ect.
I'm not a big fan of facebook or trying to sell my services there as I think the audience is too wide and anybody that asks for a quote directly from facebook always seems to be that type that you do not want, a tyre kicker or the like. Although i do have a facebookpage and post photos of customers gardens as i know my customers enjoy seeing other gardens
Always ask customers to give you a review or if they like your service ask them have they any friends that may like your service, sometimes I do money off or send a nice thank you note for referrals depending on what is bought at the time...

+1 to Graeme above :->
Phil - referrals/WOM allied to an upsell policy to existing clients is the cheapest way to generate very profitable work.
Taking an opportunity when it arises - whatever it is - has opened many doors for me. And by that I mean the most esoteric to the most obvious opportunities around you ;->
Take them.
Flyers, produced properly and distributed with common sense also work imo - a payback many times that of the time and cost involved in getting the proposition right first time.
Cheers, Eugene

If you get most of your orders etc from the internet then maybe some pay per click advertising or pay per view advertising would be good - you can set a daily budget or number of daily views so you don't get hit with a big/unexpected bill, and they can often be geo-targetted and shown to people searching for relevant key words.
If you get most of your orders through WOM and flyering, maybe consider using magazines and press, or getting your name into some directories that are popular. Royal Mail are quite pricey for flyer drops, but a combo of Vistaprint and a local delivery company (or asking a newsagent to get his paperboys to take stuff round) can be a lower cost way to target your key audience without eating up all your time.
Let us know what you do and how it goes! :)

Been trading 5 years never got round to a website. Did not want to spend a fortune to make mine look as good as yours!
Who did it? Or was it homemade?
Back on topic I don't advertise anywhere now apart from back of truck and the free one liner on yell. So it's all word of mouth for me. Which works for me now. It's took a long time to get where I am now though. Still not busy jan feb.
