Hayter Condor - What are your views?

I'm drawn towards buying an OLD Hayter Condor.I'm only looking to spend around £300 max, so that will obviously put it into a certain age bracket.I don't have a desperate, immediate need but I do have some jobs where i could use it and more than anything I just like the thought of having one (logic seems to have gone out of the window here, I'm just the same with cars)Could anyone could give me the benefit of their experience in using and owning one?

    Anyone? :-)
  • I had one I found it was hard to start because the belts made to much drag on the engine and the drive clutch would not pull me up hills I tried fixing it but spent alot of time getting no where. When it did go the swing blades performed fantasticly well cut through any height of grass brambles, brush, saplings and reeds watch out for puncture lol. Verdict they do go well when the go.

  • We used a Hayter Condor for many years. I wish I had it now. A monster of a mower, would plough through long wet grass, no trouble. If you get one, I still have the detachable cylinder cutter somewhere - no use to me.

  • I have looked a couple of times on ebay. They go for about 600-800 for a decent level one. I quite fancy one though!!!
