Boy did I get some dirty looks when i filled up my 2 jerry cans yesterday at the local petrol station. Our van has no markings on it so I now feel I must get a t-shirt with ' I'm not hoarding, this is for mowers' printed on the front. :-)

Complete and utter over reaction by all who bought more than normal - there wasn't even a strike organised, just a cunning plan by the government to boost the VAT and tax receipts before 31st March!

Or think of it another way the EU are to ban toilet rolls now that would be funny seeing people stock pile them.

Dont worry Paul, i'll be working too, got 80 litres of diesel and 40 of petrol stored just in case.

Well it will be Phil and I who are still working if they do strike. Soon as 7 days notice is given the so called national stock will vanish overnight, and those like us with the foresight to stockpile will be laughing.

I dont get through that much petrol since i got the Pellenc tools and stopped using a ride on. I'm hoping the power stations dont go on strike.

i'm alright i'm on biodiesel, and i know my truck runs good on veggie oil and if you shop at the right places you can get it for £1.20 - £1.30 a litre. my bio only costs me £1 a litre including fuel duty.

I can't believe how the selfish actions of a few can compromise the smooth running of everyone else's operations.

I won't panic buy and will carry on with my business as usual.

you will not be able to carry on with your business as usual if you dont have any fuel, that is if you need it to run your bisiness

Like Dan, I ignored the panic buying reckoning on it all blowing over.  This evening I have about 20miles worth of fuel left in the truck and none of my local stations have any diesel.  Frankly I feel a bit of a turnip and hope the delivery tankers turn up within the next 24 hours. Luckily I'm working locally this week  and the tools are on site, so I could walk to site if necessary.

So John, what do you put this shortage in your area down to, an interruption to the normal delivery patterns or people panic buying?

Congratulations to all who panic bought...you fell for it, really I mean..the advice the Minister gave was sooo wrong and anyone with any sense or foresight could see that ! the whole epsiode has caused more problems than it has solved, not to mention the ambulance drivers that had trouble filling up and the lady who set fire to herself in her kitchen !!! you have to sometimes see the bigger picture and not just the me me me, I'm alright jack stuff you attitude that some folk seem to have.

Shocking how some seem smug with their over the top sheep like behaviour to this early April fool..brings out their true colours that's for sure.

Seems common sense is such a rarity these days ?

Lst week, panic buying was evident: huge queues everywhere.  Frankly, I didn't have time to sit in a queue and I thought the whole thing wold blow over.  I think the government statement caused the panic buying, which was irresponsible and, if they didn't actually announce it to get a hike in revenue, they are secretly pleased with the result.  I'm still convinced stocks will be back to normal by Wednesday.  If they aren't, I'm in trouble.

I’m stunned, I really can’t believe how many people fell for the smoke screen to cover Camerons bung us £250K and I’ll see you right.

There was no strike scheduled!!!!
