I was wondering if any one could tell me if it would be worth my time advertising fake lawns? I'm starting my business in 4 weeks so would appreciate any advise.

I often get asked to quote for installing artificial laws but in the 5 years ive been in business no one has ever accepted my price. I think people just dont realise how much it costs, i often drive past these houses to see if they ever got it done and its always real grass or flags, stones, etc. So as a start up business i really wouldnt bother, focus on the more regular jobs for now then advertise it later if you feel theres a demand for it.

If you feel you dont want to miss out on any opportunity, I would find your local recognised installer and link with him/her.  I am sure they will be working with other landscapers on a similar basis.  It will also give you an indication of what is involved and whether you want to get involved full on at a later date.

Thanks Chris and Colin thanks for the advice. Im going to look into it and see if I can introduce it to my local area if it's a growing market.

Good pun!

I am in the same boat lots of people have asked for quotes but none taken them up as it is so expensive.

We install artificial grass as a sideline, we don't get enough to lay it full time as people really don't realize the expense. I wont normally work with estimated costs, but with the artificial grass i find it alot easier to give an estimated cost over the phone as this cuts out the people who don't realize. Its not a bad thing to advertise for as it is a growing market but you have to be prepared to price a lot of jobs that will not lead to anything.
