I wonder how one man can take £17k of equipment and lift/fit it all into the back of a car...........can't help thinking this figure has been exaggerated or miscalculated..... maybe this is another lesson in not advertising yourself on a van.
We should have a law passed that if you get caught stealing the tools of a tradesman that prevents him earning a living for himself and his family, you the thief once caught and the case proven the thief should receive an automatic jail sentence of 12 months with no remission and the sentence should escalate in increments of a year for every £1000 worth of tools stolen...watch the thieving stop overnight.
There is no deterrent at present and for someone who has been on the receiving end twice of these tool thieves I know how damaging to a business it can be.
Just because another company work gear has been stolen doesn't mean that we should''t have our vans sign written one the video didn't show his security system prior to the break in(if you have 17k worth of gear in a building i would of thought cameras would be a necessity, good and effective security will not only deter criminals but should prevent them from taking anything.
