had a customer on the phone last night moaning that her patio looks a complete mess, i was ask to lay a black limestone patio on her 4th terrace and just knew from the start it was going to stain in some way, last night she is on the phone saying she is not happy with the quality of the work because of these stains and she's going to tell every one what a poor job she has had done, after she had stopped ranting about it and axplained what the problem was i told her it was probably salt coming out of the sharp sand or the natural salt in the slabs or the lime in the cement, she wasnt having any of it and its my fault, so now after downloading f&q's from pavingexpert.com i have got to go over there to drop the paperwork off to show her to stop her from giving me a bad name and show her in black & white the nobody is to blame and the stains will fade over time

Looking closely at the paving I can clearly see that this is not efflorescence, what I see is the mortar used as the pointing. I can also see that the pointing has been missed of a good iron as the weight of the water has created a void in the pointing.... this would not occur if the pointing is ironed in hard.
No wonder the client is furious.
Your best bet to save your name is to forget the fistful of paper work and bite the bullet.
Angle grind the jointing out , All of it. Use a very dilute mortar cleaner and scrub the whole mortar stained paving and wash off with clean water, allow to dry and do the job properly, after all that's what the client has paid for.

your just about 9 months to late to reply on this, why not just send me a quick email to see if has been sorted before you get on an open forum telling me to do the job properly, for your info all pointing has been cleaned off and the lady is very happy with the completed job, but it wasnt that she was moaning about, it was the salt stains on the slabs.

Instantly after replying to your thread I noticed the date it was written...... please verify in the chat room at the bottom right hand corner.... my words are still there.
If your not happy with comments on an open forum then...................................................
Great that you have cleaned off the pointing and the lady is happy....
I would have never of passed such comment if it was efflorescence. Its clear that this could go on forever and a day with me trying to explain that it is not efflorescence and you trying to explain that it is.
I draw my line here and now.
