  • Do a google on PA1 and PA6 or PA6AW, or use the search box at the top of the page to find the whole stack of info available on this site on use of pesticides. You need certificates to spray. On water, that's PA1 and PA6AW.

Rob, If you take a look at this page (which I recommend be book marked) you will see what is available and one of the main reasons I like to stick with Monsanto RUP for use of Aquatics with minimal issues. You may need to perform a LERAP.

PA6W is normally taken as an addon to PA6 training, but a few providers offer it as a standalone course...

  • Sorry yes i have that - other info i meant :)

PA6W gives license to spray near water. There are other PA modules for spraying in/on water from boats etc. If you read between the lines PA6 could be acceptable IF you use a suitable product. PA6W gives training to consider how to spray near water using non-aquatic approved pesticides (perhaps someone can comment further ?)

Also see RUP product label for further info.

  • Thankyou gary - im not sure the bio/or biactive will deal with this size of duck? weed, there is another sachets of lime/organic matter to consider and client needs permission from e.agency as its not a 'closed' pond , i think it goes into the river tern nearby..

maybe ill just steer clear and cut her trees instead ! :)

  • Hi Guys, you are right about LERAPs and Aquatic approvals, but you may be wasting your time using glyphosate unless the weed is above the surface of the water and will remain so until the chemical has been absorbed into the plant. Roundup Pro is probably the best product to use for all floating aquatic weeds, and while the Pro Bio 360 has better aquatic credentials, the PRo Biactive 450 is rainfast in 30 mins so helps reduce the risk of wash off by a boat wake or something similar.

If the weed is below the surface of the water then your options for herbicides are non existant. We do however have a product which is called a weed inhibitor. It helps to rmeove and prevent submerged weeds growing by dying the colour of the water to a dark red/black colour. This stops sunlight penetrating and therefore plants cannot photosythesise. This is completeley safe to the environment, fish & wildlife & could also be classed as 'organic'

I have added the link below to our aquatic weed control section, but if you have any more questions then please give me a call.
