Hi Guys,I wanted to hear from some of you guys who have moved from hand drawing to computer design for private garden please.Do you find that using computers significantly reduces plan production time if so at all?I design private gardens mainly and am planning to move to computers. I spoke to a former colleague yesterday who told me that using computers would not save me time. He said it would for commercial work where you would be adding layers over an architects plan or making a lot of changes but that for private gardens he just verbally agrees changes and makes the changes on the ground.I don't sell products or carry out landscaping so my time is money and I need to make sure that an investment in a computer package would yield income to cover costs in time saved.Sorry for exhausting this subject at this stage but I would really appreciate your input. Many ThanksRyan

  • Hello Ryan. I design and build, and personally, I feel that designing on a computer saves a noticeable amount of time, (once you learn how to use the software efficiently), however, the down side is that I do not feel the designs I now produce are as aesthetically pleasing, compared to my older, hand drawn plans.
  • Thanks Ian,

Much appreciated. Good to know it speeds up the process but I am also worried about the presentation of my plans.

    Cheers
