Exactly the same for me.

I have my home and mobile number on business cards and the van, I always tell people to use the mobile as there is not often anyone at home during the day. I also tell everyone that if I don't answer I'm either driving or using machinery and to leave a message. If they don't leave a message I just ring them back providing the number shows on the caller ID. Most people leave messages.

My main clients either email or text me which is easier.

I tend to keep my mobile number private and personal for friends and family only but when it comes to business my son relies heavily on his mobile number for all his work contacts and propective clients as he doesn't advertise but receives all approaches for work from either previous clients or ones passed on by previous clients. That way he doesn't get inundated with work he cannot take on.

I give my customers both my mobile and landline numbers. I've never found it to be a problem. I have the mobile on buzzer in my pocket so I can feel it even if I can't hear it when I'm outdoors.

I use the Orange pocket landline service and only give out a landline number that diverts to my mobile. I can set the times, days etc that the divert is in operation. Outside of this callers get a message and I get an email with the message attached. Great for family time and holidays as you get no work calls when you don't want them. Make sure you put 141 in front of a number when you dial out or your mobile number is given out and the advantage is lost. Works well for me. If orange do it I'm sure the other mobile companies will too. John

I diverted my land line to my mobile and paid out £17 that month to

call centres, so cancelled that faciilty very quickly ......lol

All my customers can find my mobile number very easily via my

website, so it is not a problem. Why should it be a problem, if I

cannot answer, they can call back later.

What if

You are working at a clients house and a customer phones you and your on the phone for 10 mins, then you phone a supplier for 10 mins, then back to the customer for 10 mins and maybe back to the supplier, thats a good 30/40 mins gone, and the client is watching and thinking i'm paying for this,i wouldn't like it to happen to me.

As for corresponding to client by text to me is so unprofessional, that personal touch has gone.

Just call me old fashioned lol!!

i do although my ansaphone message states that I am working if I am unable to answer and will get back to them as soon as I can and follow up all calls at lunch or at the end of the day if possible.

I never answer whilst i am working as I consider it rude to the customer I am working at.
