Just wondering wether or not show the amount of VAT being charged on written quotations to domestic customers.

Lets say you provide a quote for putting up a fence, would you write:

£1000 +VAT

£1200 inc VAT

or just £1200.

I would include it Chris, you have to anyway on the invoice along with your VAT Reg number
For domestic it should say it includes vat at the current rate, for commercial price plus Vat.

Agree with above, Consumer protection rules state that if you trade as a VAT reg business, prices should be vat inclusive at the current rate ie £1200inc Vat (you may still however show a break down).

For Commercial clients the protocol is to state vat exclusive prices.

As a VAT reg business you MUST show a valid EU vat code on any quotes or invoices, which can be checked with HMRC.

I agree with that and its what we do, to be honest its easier when supplying a quote to give them the total price payable then there is no problem when geting paid.
