is it possible for me to go out to a garden take pictures talk to the client, take the ideas away, pictures etc, hand them over to someone explain what is needed and for them to do the design work?
Because I just don’t have time to do everything.
Well I know its possible but is this wrong?

I for one would not use someone elses measurments etc for a scheme. Getting yourself into a situation where you are relaying what the client wants toa third person is very likely to result in a case of chinese whispers and no one gets exactly what they want.
Why is it you want to do this? Are you planning on doing the landscaping work but just need someone else to do the design? Let the client find their own designer or if you are looking for a cut get someone and agree some sort of finders fee??

You could set it up so that the client (the garden owner) never sees them (i.e. they work from your measurements) or they could do the measurements (and even take the brief) and the client sees them as your employee. Either way you would be responsible for them (H&S implications, etc.) and their work just as you are for any other employee/sub-contractor. As the measurements are critical I would prefer to do that bit myself atleast until I was confident the 'help' could do it right.
It might be easier to refer the client to a designer and would certainly be less effort, but if you commission the design you can take a cut.
Permalink Reply by A D Landscapes on October 2, 2012 at 12:20 I actually work with two fantastic artists and have been doing my design via them for some time, but I was told its not right to put that A D Landscapes do the design. I take my clients instructions, give my designers a brief and a drawing and they come back with the goods.
I am not a big company and can't do everything myself as much as I would like to and I prefer doing the construction work. Maybe I can do just the design work when I am old.
I have worked with other designers and I am starting one with a new designer soon.
