Consider expanding the geographical area you cover

With traditional paper based advertising increasing your work load often meant considering taking out larger ad's or advertising in more publications. Advertising in areas outside your core area was often financially prohibitive.

With the internet truly taking the lead, ( I feel ), in marketing today it's far more easier to appeal to a wider audience.

We've managed to increase our own business turnover partly by increasing the area we say we consider work in.

We have several large, ( for us ), garden builds on the books that would have historically been outside of our catchment area.

Increasing your geographical area can be done through a number of means online such as:

  • Including a "areas covered" map on your website.
  • Including names of nearby towns and counties that you would normally not have covered in your website descriptions and other online free listings you use, ( such as Google maps, Frreindex and Landscape Juice !! ).
  • Increasing your area targeted on Google Adwords.
  • Advertising on Landscape Juice's "Find a Gardener / Landscaper" in neighbouring counties.

Why mention this ?

Well I think people like mself who have been trading for many years sometimes need reminding of the flexibility the web brings us at often no or little extra cost.

Simply increasing the geographical area you cover may provide the additional business you are seeking.

Just remember to factor in any additional costs such as fuel into the quotation !
