What computer programs do you use ?

This will hopefully be a good discussion to see what others are using, to ask them how they get on with it and to get help and advice where needed.

Below is a list of the programs I use, ( not all specifically for business use ). I will add information about some of them when the discussion is open but in the interest of brevity I'll just list them at this stage.

I think the future has got to be free software.

Open Office
Google Earth
Google Chrome
SpywareBlaster
AVG free Antivirus
Google Sketchup

etc., etc.

Free these days doesn't have to be second rate and if you like the product you can always pay for the "Pro version"
I know Gary is a fan of Open Office (and with good reason). Ideal for anyone starting up in business who wants to minimise outlay on software. If it's of any interest, talking of "Open Source" software, I've just found one called DVD Flick which converts downloaded video to DVD format and will burn to disk in one operation if required. I've only tried it on one download and it worked a treat whereas other progs I've tried have struggled with just the conversion.

Wife uses Sage on her laptop for accounts
I have always used macs since I was at college, many years ago. I just find them more intuitive, but I suppose it's what you get used to. There are no file compatibilty issues these days, though there used to be. The only disadvantage I can think of is some specialist software tends only to be availiable for the windows platform.
I am a bit of a mac geek...
