£125 per bay, as in each 6' section ?

Sorry fence is 6' high bays are 3m. cheers

Sorry Dom not understanding term bays. Are you building it in 1.8m sections ? When i used to do a lot of fencing at 6' high I uaed to charge £65.00 per linear metre all in.

By bays do you mean distance between posts? if so 3m is bonkers.

between posts yes, 3m ment to put 2m whoops!

Standard distance between posts for standard close board fencing is 3m (10 foot) For panel fencing with lap larch or close board then the distance is 1.8m (6foot)

I would say around £65.00 per m is a reasonable price using all wood. I would up it a little if you are using concrete posts and gravel boards

Why would you post at 3m lengths when the horizontal rails are 3.6m ? Never seen a wooden fence posted at 3m apart. All 1.8m high wooden fencing should be posted at 1.8m lengths. Industry size, and cut to stop waste of materials and wasted time. 95% of a fence should be built in this way and only cut where it returns, drops in gradient and finishes. Dont get the 3m post spacing !! Happy to be educated though :-)).

In Sussex we use ended triangular arris rails and morticed post so they should be 3metre bays, this is standard for the area. I would charge £50 per metre for medium to larger domestic closebaord fencing using just timber.

Arris rails are 3metres in length so no wastage but I know its built differently up north

I use 4.8x100x50 rails at 2.4 centres on 4x4 posts and the boards sat on a gravel board this will stop sagging in time,@55 per meter,if you look round at some fences and see them sagging, most likely not sat on the gravel board,to me 3m is a long way,

scarfed arris rails come at 3 metres that is why you would put the post at 3 metres scarfed arris rails into morticed posts 1.8 metres high, i would charge £65 per metre

I tend to used face morticed 2.4m spacing,

Never bother pricing by the metre just work out materials, disposal of waste and labour and go from there as every job is different.

Hi Phil, as Tony has mentioned above, isn't that type of fencing prone to sagging ?. 3m of closeboard fencing is a lot of weight, unless the vertical boards sit on a horizontal gravel board. As I said in my above post, happy to be educated, I have always worked with 3.6m lengths of horizontal rails, posted at 1.8m.
