We got the ok tonight for a new contract.

And the initial part of the job is to clear the site. Its a large estate that has had no pruning done for around 15 years!
I estimate that there are about 5-7 tipper loads of waste to clear.

So i was wondering. Rather than go to the green waste dump 5-7 times. Shall i either;

1) Get a tree surgeon to put it all through a chipper and make the amount of waste alot smaller

2) Get a grab lorry to come and collect the waste?

Or can you think of any other ways i can get round this?

Thanks

Steve

You should try and rent something like this:

Yep, that would work (Greenmech equilivant of the Saleen's). We looked at those before buying ours (the main reason we didnt go that route was pure cost of those machines). However, if available to hire, would absolutely do the job and more.

RORO was my shorthand for Roll-Off, Roll-On containers (as per Paul's idea). Just very large 'open skips' with doors at one end.

As we all know, green waste is generally volumus and not necessary heavy. This is the challenge. We've settled on a 12yrd skip in our yard with everything (bar grass and leaves) shredded into the skip and that is changed most weeks. That way we solve the volume vs weight issue.

One last point, absolutely haggle with skip companies if you can guarantee pure green waste as it does not cost them as much to process and most pass on the saving if pushed (well at least ours does...).

steve we normally use a grab lorry coz you pile it all up call them in and its gone if you get a rolo etc you got to physically put it into the rolo then wait for collection which some clients dont like grab lorry down here for a 26 ton truck is £130

Hi Steve. If you have not started your job yet and are looking at the hire of a really good shredder or chipper try www.orangeplant.co.uk . They sell and hire timberwolf machines which in my opinion are the best machines for chippers and shredders. I use orange plant regularly and find them very competitively priced compared to other hire companies and there hire machines are always new or almost new machines and more than up to every job we have used them for. As far as I'm aware they have depots all over the country and hire machines pretty much anywhere. Hope this helps.
Hi all . Made my choice now.
I rung my trusty dealer jones and son and asked about a chipper. I have booked in to hire a green mech chipper at the end of the week for £70 + vat per day. I think that's a really good price so really happy!!
I think this will vastly reduce my waste from this job. And save me time and money too.

Sounds like a good result :-)
