Well I have started cutting now and only stopped in Mid-December! ( If only to maintain a height of 1.5 inches)
Here in Oxfordshire no camellias,no daffodils,snowdrops just starting to think about flowering which is what they should be doing ( remember flowering time is largely influenced by day length rather than temperature).
Have seen a few forsythia blooms though.
It is strange, snow drops just coming here to, but day length or not my own Camellia is a glorious ball of pink blooms and the Daffs are exploding.
i cut 2 lawns last week. aconite's and some crocus flowering, mind you my hollyhocks and roses are still flowering at the moment
Well it appears the mild spell has come to an end for now , heavy ground frost this morning and still hovering around freezing at present although the sun is bright and not a cloud in the sky :0)
i did a quote on a farm this week , i was insure after i left as to when they wanted the grass cutting to start if we arranged an agreement ...... frost next week so not a good idea to 'weaken the lawn' , cause frost burn / cells.
after frosts in end feb i would treat first ie scarify, then cut high initially & increase over time to a satisfactory level of cut.
