Only happens occasionally after I have finished job and hot mower has gone in van and taken out next call.
My solution is whip of air filter and it starts first pull, replace filter and away you go.
I have this engine on my Mcculloch M-53, never had this problem, had it 2 years.
B&S engines are sometimes really fussy!
Is the easy start the automatic choke system? Because I've heard of a lot of issues with briggs autochokes where it chokes it even when its hot.
yes ,auto choke, always had honda engines, never had a problem starting, not been impressed with b&s.
Would concur...try the equivalent NGK. We have these in our remaining B&S engines and do help.
A couple of other tips - install a replaceable in- line fuel filter, ensure air filter is 100% clean, and turn off fuel tap before transporting mowers in van/trailer.
Many, me included, question 'modern' B&S engines in commercial gear. They always seem to have a 'problem' in starting or in the noise they produce compared to Honda/Kwacker engines.
It got so bad that B&S introduced an engine series call "GTS" (Guaranteed To Start) and "Easy Start". Why would you do that ;-0 ?
