  • You can use rope with an anti friction device. It's important to spread the load and to prevent movement on the stem. How much of a lean does it have?
  • What device do you recommend need to get it back about 3 feet

  • Obviously I would need to access the tree myself to make an informed dession however I would be using something like a natural rubber strip between tree trunk and a webbing strap/harness (this will reduce friction). This would then be tied to an anchor point. Of course the loads for rope and webbing would be dependent on tree size and location.
  • If it's small scale you can use a piece of hose with a rope threaded through or for a slightly larger rope you can cut the house along its length.

I'd be looking at this type of solution or a tactical one as described above. Many a good tree book will describe similar solutions.

  • I will be posting a similar question when I have pics...

What do you tie it in to? I'm looking to pull a 4m standard photinia upright by, perhaps, ten degrees. There's no lower branch union to get a tie around, and I can't see how any stake will support the forces needed to straighten it.

I'm thinking about going in from the front, so the stake is being driven in to the ground by the natual lean rather than being pulled out, but can't see a way of securing it to a bare trunk.

You can purchase 'screw-in' ground anchors that will take immense loads. Then you need a method of tensioning the guy rope, which depends on what you use. Gripples to are great if using wire ropes.

Could you apply the force down really low so the 'rope/wire' is almost horizontal into a ground anchor (not sure if that comes across clear) ?

Or like this will 3 ropes with 1 shorter to pull back on ?guy fixing diagram
