Don't get emotional about this! It's business. Clients will choose who they want to do work, the other guy sounds a bit on the uneducated side.
I think some gardeners (and I suppose it happens in other trades too) bad mouth all the competition anyway to try to put themselves above the others. But if he did a bad job then it looks like his work spoke for himself and he knows that you're the better choice?
I've been in sale's for 20 years, any business that promotes a service fall into a sales category. I have followed a basic rule that under no circumstances will I bad mouth my competition. I will point out why in my opinion my services / products are better than my competitors. I also find my clients find this approach to be refreshing and tend more often than not to go with my offerings.
I wouldn't worry about it, and I think the customer will see straight through his bad mouthing anyway.
Don't worry about it Richard. You are clearly the better gardener!!
Richard, only you know if you did deliberately copy his company identity and rob his clients!
Funny, but people always look for someone else to blame when they lose work. Better to look at yourself, and learn from it, than to try to run the competition down.
Only looked around at other on yell etc to make sure I did not copy a name!
I just annoyed me that I have spent 4 1/2 years trying to give myself a good name and then I hear of someone doing that. Hopefully people will see through it.
I was really wondering as well if anyone else had had the same/similar happen to them.
Thanks all
Very unprofessional of the other guy to be badmouthing businesses. Seen a couple of threads on here about this sort of thing occurring so it seems it does happen unfortunately. Just got to brush it off and keep going with the high quality work!
I would never back mouth another gardener but have been told of local gardeners who do a bad job and what there weaknesses are so i play on them its all business.
Seriously though how can you steal customers they aint animate objects there free thinking individuals with the right to choice who ever they want he sounds a n** who obviously cant see hes loosing his own customers.
