Sorry to hear that has happened Lee - I can only imagine how angry you must be.

Do you feel you have any options at this stage?

Do you have terms and conditions that go with your quotes that may have been breached?

Do you provide a full, formal quote with basic T&C's ?

  • Did you have it in writing? If not, it will happen and there's not a lot you can do.

It might seem over-the-top, but just giving a written quote with everything detailed, and your payment terms etc., avoids a lot of problems. It also makes you in another league when it comes to the way the client sees your business: they will pay more for you than the chancer who offers a cash deal, no paperwork, no guarantee.....

  • To be honest I've always worked on the philosophy if you give good you'll get good but there was no way I would lower my original quote after the agreement wss originally made especially as I've struggled and worked very hard over the year's to buy the best stihl equipment van's etc as I'm sure you all have.
  • depends on the job size - if it was a mid range job (im assuming so) its probabbly poor behaviour on the part of the customer but not uncommon, especially if you dont have a written agreement. Also depends on how much notice between agreeing work and actualy starting.

  • Hi Lee,

Did you have it in writing or not?

  • Lee, having read some of the recent posts, I think you need to sit down and spend some time re-evaluating your business strategy. A trawl through past posts on LJ would be a good start - there are plenty of good posts and advice.

  • it would also help if you gave more details on what you are wanting to achieve, many of your posts are one line demands for information with little given in return - not even answers where people want mroe info so they can offer genuine help.

The impression I get is you are new to the industry and finding you feet, and are abit confused about how to go about building your business - help up by giving us all the info you can and we can help you.

  • Does anyone have a useful link or copy for terms and conditions ??
