At last a high speed pedestrian roller mower ?

Just been to our dealers to pick up some repaired kit and was told that lawnflite/Danarm have just released a faster version of their 53 Pro Roller pedestrian model. It's an 'S' version. Yipeeee.... Not sure if this is via pulley changes or intro of a multi speed gearbox to machine. They are waiting to get new data-sheets which should explain more. Maybe we can find out more at Saltex? In the meantime, we've had good success with our new Toro 4W 53cm HiVac fitted with the optional Toro bolt on Roller assembly (which is not expensive). It actually works quite well... Anyway, maybe we will see a GTI or TT version in the future :D

    Found it on their website - its 13% faster :-) : http://www.lawnflite.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&prod...
  • Maybe they'll bring out a hws553 gti i have the standard version and love it.

I think its better than the Honda version myself.
  • Looks like the older lever design in the picture? I assumed this was just them fitting the new, tougher gearbox from the Kubota in the other machines, but perhaps not.

  • You do realise that faster will generally mean a poorer quality of cut?

  • You can slow a faster mower down in the wet etc., but you can't speed a slow mower up when the conditions are dry and fine!

  • and do people really do that?....honestly?

  • PRO
Correct! That's why all the pro roller mowers are shite at wet pick up
Because non of them have variable speed..
  • Cutting more regularly is the only answer to stand any chance of not dropping, when mowing wet.....and of course, how wet is wet?

Getting a mower that works in the wet is the answer to mowing in the wet, there are plenty available. Unfortunately rear rollers do not do that. But a roller mounted under the handles of a 4 wheel produces the same effect.

Nowt do with 4 wheels or roller, key is design of Shute, speed of travel, and deign of blade,
A viking mower can take at least 50mm of soaking wet grass and not drop a bit...
