Hi Keith

 

Hope you enjoy Glee. Can I ask what interest Glee holds for you?

I note the APL are exhibiting but I wonder for what reason and for what possible benefit? It's neither consumer facing nor likely to have enough landscapers attending to make it worthwhile.

 

Perhaps you can review the show for us all and let us know what it's like?

We go to Glee to look at what's new to the market in garden accessories, and to talk to suppliers and local nurseries. It's also only 45 mins away.

 

We attended a couple of seminars - one by a marketing consultant on marketing for landscapers which was quite interesting, and a panel discussion on trends in garden design involving the CEO of the APL, Andrew Wilson of the London School of Garden Design and a bloke from Bradstone. It was also interesting, although it did veer off into a discussion about the future of garden centres!

 

We saw the APL stand, which was quite small, but we didn't talk to them as we're not interested in joining.

 

More interesting for us were Yardistry, who produce easy to assemble gezebos and pergolas; EasyJoint pointing material; Foras garden sculpture and water features; Bellissa, who produce decorative gabions; and there were couple of innovative products which we wouldn't use: Solid Pool - a snap/lock swimming pool assembly system and Lazy Walls, which is best described as foam stone cladding for gardens. We also found a nursery in Coventry.

 

There was about 1/3rd of the exhibition devoted to landscaping and garden design, and for us it was worthwhile.
