    Im from Lisburn , i did a National Diploma in hort, wouldn't recommend it to anyone over 20 years old, too easy and didn't really learn much useful stuff. Best to just learn from experience.

    Currently doing a part-time HNC in Garden Design up at Newtowards. In my first year, so currently its all theory. Three units this year - Historical Influences in Garden Design, Plant Identification and Selection and the third unit is Hardlandscaping. All units theory based, and assessed by written assignments. All pretty comprehensive in their content - abit slightly information overload at time.

     

    Worth looking into if you keen on becoming a garden designer or landscaper that designs.

    Thanks for replies folks,

    Im looking at getting into design and build, ive seen a few intensive courses down south but waying up the options before jumping in.

    how are you finding landscaping going with the state of of economy, im from Tyrone and job prospects are poor about here?

    Its not much better up here CJ, especially design and build, the majority of the work im getting is maintenance or small essential landscaping jobs (fences, patios, etc.), not much in the way of garden design and makeovers. If your serious about learning i would recommend you go over to one of the colleges in England and study full time.
