Hi I have recently been looking at my budget for advertising, I am wondering about different forms, I have a website, and have been in Thomson and yellow pages, none of the later two seem to be working as good as the site, but I do need to do more I think, recently gone into a local mag called The Net. Does anyone else have any forms of good advertising that they can share.

We find that you have to spend a lot of money in Yellow Pages for it to be any good, normally half a page works for us.
  • thanks I will try this regards peter

Try Freeindex. It's a free online business index that works well for me. Ask your customers to give you a review and it raises your position in the ranking. Also once you have some reviews you can add a live feed to those reviews on your site, ( meaning the review box will appear on your own site ).

Local mag's work well if they are quality publications and not Ad-fests.

Sign written van is a good idea although some LJN members disagree, ( fair enough ).

Get some sign boards made and leave them for a while on properties you've worked on, ( with the owners permission ).

Add some photos to your LJN profile and name them Kent garden patio, etc.

Search for any Kent listings websites that are free and join them, ( I'm on iWiltshire ).
  • A targeted campaign in local shop windows gets your name in the back of peoples mind, followed by a media or leaflet campaign in the same area, also write to satisfied customers and offer them a incentive to refer new business to you,£5.00 (M+s vouchure or the like) for every lead,£50.00 on completed project. We are reintroducing this reward system next year.
  • I made a call to one of the landscapers i know and he told me he advertised in the local paper 3 nights a week, and the weekly local paper also, he gets all his work from that and from people walking/driving past his jobs.
If it was maintenance I could help you more, sorry.
  • yell.com free listing i get a bit of work from this and my website / also parish magazine : took a year or so to get into it but £70 a year seems worth it after 2 yrs now .......... free cards in shops i use and newsagents
  • Peter, fellow juicers

FORGET YELLOW PAGES, FORGET BT PHONE BOOK, FORGET THOMPON LOCAL.....huge companies, huge prices, full of sales patter, zero service, too much money for a small return, if your lucky.....BLOGGING, IMAGES.... INTERNET, Twitter, Facebook, linkedin, the garden network, freeindex to name a few.
  • Yellow pages stopped working for us about five or six years ago, I stopped using them and Yell .com about three years ago the only change I have noticed is I have stopped spending £300 a month.
