As an experience from today Chris - go sell yourself.
I attended some grounds maintenance this morning (client off skiing, no upsell value there (this week:->), met commitments for two quotes thereafter and then this afternoon I've been fed biscuits and coffee at three existing clients which I called on with a sociable knock on the door.
These are clients I don't see during the week.
The result of needing the toilet fairly frequently because of the coffee intake was 2.5k additional works. Nice.
Your own and existing customers are always the ones to promote your services to first.

Don't get you Chris?
A 'different way' for me to upsell is what's on offer, taking the weather, the season, the client's potential budget and existing workload into account. I'm not upselling for the sake of it, I feel very passionate about all of the grounds I get to work (play :->) in and if there's something I think (being the professional needs doing I'll recommend it.
Currently pressure washing (where the grounds allow some decent run-off) and landscape repairs such as fencing, gates and gravel laying. Showing a homeowner that they need a soakaway built properly is another upsell currently. Sadly the green stuff is currently out of bounds in many clients' gardens. :-{
