i know its 'hard' times and we all get a bit frustrated and angry odd hours or days, (and weather doesnt help).
but : if you dont have anything good to say ? dont say anything ?
some posts i have read to fellow members on here are well : rude
are we not here to support one another as friends and workers in the industry?.

2. IS THE HS81R LIGHTER OVERALL.
3. HS81R IS LONGER , THEREFORE QUICKER.
4. YOU DONT HAVE TO TAKE THE strimmer end off to use it !
5. its quieter? than a 4-mix
6. it has way ,way better anti-vibrations . ie less vibrations , so again you can use it for longer.
think ive reminded myself here also of the reasons i bought one. if you had an hs45 previous you would not be asking this question /post .....
the right kind of hedge and its an amazing machine. buy the 'T' version like paul (pro-guard) if you want a trimmer. for me the 'r' is most suitable as its all thicker/ rough hedges round here and can be hawthorn/holly etc sometimes.... im sure your Kawasaki was good, and i dont use the twisting handle much on stihl for sideways wrist use either....
its easier to put in your vehicle too :) please reply -
I think the only point you raise which I would agree with is the lower vibrations.
The heavier weight is irrelevent because you hold the weight lower when cutting with the long-handled hedgetrimmer. It is actually much less strenuous.
Blade is longer on the 81R but I can still cut sides of hedge far more quickly with Kombi using a sweeping up and down action. Also, v importantly Kombi gives a far better cut.
I don't have to swap the engines around as I have four Kombi engines.
The noise is not an issue (good eardefenders and iphone with music playing mostly)
Easier to put in vehicle. LWB Transit, plenty of room, makes no odds to me.

efco, echo, husqvarna, kawasaki, tanaka/hitachi lots of others so buy these and stop moaning.
i think stihl are good at ergonomics, weight & i never had a problem with the few parts ive needed ( drove over hedgecutters, staff broke a backpack part by twisting the part & jamming a scrub-cutter blade.
only bits i need are grease & plastic grey sleeves for the combi. chains for chainsaws .
perishable parts expected with any machine.
Agree with this & the tongue in cheek statement at the end made me chuckle LOL (not lots of love : ) ) at the end of the day it is a perception, try not to take things personally but as as Claire has put it "would you be happy to see in headline" think before posting all should take a step back & think before responding about a subject & looking at the bigger picture! In general we tend to focus on things & make an issue about things which in the big scheme of things are not really that important ! We do not view anyone on LJN as competitors because of the geography of the membership, we look upon local competition as healthy but don't get too worked up on it, have certainly read a couple of posts recently where tolerance of others views has not been forthcoming, In summary think we need to develop thicker skins & not take things in life too seriously.

Lol, that was a nice twist.
I think on one hand that there is a whole load lost in translation when people communicate via text. That's one of the problems, I don't think half of the posts people get red faced about have vehement intent, they are just taken in the wrong way.
There is though another major problem/barrier on here, as opposed to on 'hobby' forums, western greed, lol. We make our money doing this.
There is a definite undercurrent of sorts on trade sites. I can't put my finger on it but it's there, without a doubt, and it surfaces in some real strange ways. When it comes down to it most of you see yourselves as being in competition with each other at some level, unless you're retired. So no, not everyone here, deep down, is here to support one another (although many generously do!) as friends and workers in the industry, which is a shame, as that's the main area of potential for gatherings like this. Used in the right way sites like this on the internet could play a role which is essential (imminently!) in the evolution of the business mindset, maybe even some form of sustainable capitalism if such a thing is possible, working together on an industry/internet wide scale rather than against each other. The internet is the only place within a modern democracy where you are free to think for yourselves laterally.
Contentment. That's a good word and there is nowhere near enough of it in this world. Everyone wants more, which can't happen. We keep hearing that 'growth' is the way out of recession, b****x. All that growth will achieve is to increase the height of the cliff that we are about to fall off of. Growth is the reason that the cliff exists. Growth, in the long term, is not a wise strategy on a global scale which is why I have no intent whatsoever to increase the size of our company in the future.
So no, you're not in competition with me and yes, some of us are here to help if we can, as friends or equals not opponents, the problem is that most gleaning info. and tips from this site would probably stab you in the back if forced to make the choice. Let them stab you, let them grow, let them fall off of their own cliff, let them ignore their kids for forty years, let them reach retirement and wonder if they got it right, or not.
The rest of us can do what's right as human beings and help each other. The trick is working out who deserves the help, maybe help should be passed via private messages, lol.
Right I'm off to start my new thread.. ''Tell me how to do my job and undercut you at the same time because I'm rubbish.'' :P

I agree with every word of this, in fact i wish i had written it. Greed, mine's bigger than yours, i'm better than you - there is too much of this in life. Spread peace and love man.
