Hello, I am thinking of buying a 4x4 crew cab, I just wondered which ones do the most MPG as I do lots of running around!

Have a Navara older D22 model roughly same as figures Paul put up, 4x4 & fuel efficiency doesn't work depends what you are looking to do with it if towing figures will reduce drastically, bought van & mostly used as
a) More load space in back.
b) Better fuel figures.
May well change it this year but looking at getting a Land Rover for towing.

I get about 24 mpg when towing, around 30mpg normal driving (2008 L200 crewcab). What sort of work would you be doing with it? would you be using it as your main vehicle or an extra?

I ran a Hi Lux for 18 months and at best got 25 mpg out of it.. With a dumpy bag of sand and tools it was down to 15-18 mpg....
Not much better when towing a trailer and a bit of a issue when towing the mini digger as was over the weight that you are allowed to tow.
Nice truck though. I sold it for a lot more than i paid after the Top Gear tv thing..
Permalink Reply by Nic Johnson on March 15, 2012 at 18:31 Got a Newshape L200 its currently doing 32 mpg on short runs and towing a bit it will do up to 38 or more on longer runs i know a few people that have them and are doing the same towing alot of weight and its down to 26 mpg as with all trucks it depends how you drive them but im happy with what mine does after all its a 2ton truck
Permalink Reply by Simon Smith on March 15, 2012 at 19:46 Don't fret john you can always get a plug in tuning box and get a 50% power increase and 30% better economy. :)
Permalink Reply by Ryan @RNWilliamsGardenServices on March 15, 2012 at 20:21 I have a classic shape L200 Animal/Double cab. I actullaly got 30 mpg on 300 mile run last year to a festival. but daily use with a trailer on I'm probably getting 20-24mpg. Less than that if the trailer is really heavy. Do you need 4 wheel drive? Where I tip my green waste I would never get in or out most days without using it.
4x4's + Economy = Rare
Defender 110 = 27 - 30mpg. Towing doesn't make much difference, probably down to driving styles!
